About Eliana Machado

Eliana Machado is a psychologist (OPP Licence no. 26698), practising since 2021. She holds an Integrated Master's in Psychology (ISPA — Instituto Universitário) and advanced specialist training in Clinical and Health Psychology. She is also a certified trainer in pedagogical competencies.
The approach
The starting point is simple: the person seeking help is the one who knows their own life best. The work does not impose a single method — it is integrative, adjusting to each person and each moment. It draws mainly on cognitive behavioural therapy and the person-centred approach; in a family context, on systemic thinking. The aim is a space of attentive listening, clarity and considered decision — with transparency about what therapy can and cannot offer.
Influences
Her thinking is informed by authors such as Carl Rogers and Isabel Leal, and by the tradition that traces back to Freud — though the practice is cognitive behavioural and person-centred, not psychoanalytic.
Areas of support
She works with, among others, anxiety, exhaustion (burnout), low mood, grief and trauma. She also offers support with eating difficulties and with questions relating to gender identity — with the same care and absence of judgement.
Ethics and confidentiality
The work is governed by the Code of Conduct of the Portuguese Psychologists' Association (OPP), with confidentiality and respect for each person's pace.
